Editorial Standards

Balaton Labs publishes confectionery and chocolate-science material for practitioners, researchers, and curious readers. These editorial standards explain how we create content, who is accountable, and how we correct mistakes.

Mission

We document methods, observations, and cited literature so others can evaluate and reproduce work. We do not publish anonymous reviews, undisclosed sponsorship, or content written solely by generative tools without human expert review.

Authorship

Articles name responsible chocolate researchers with full biographies, credentials, and publication lists. Bylines link to author pages. When multiple authors contribute, each listed author has reviewed the sections they sign.

Review process

Drafts pass technical review (process data, citations) and editorial review (clarity, claims vs. evidence). Sensory claims require methodology consistent with our research methodology page. See references and sources for citation rules.

Updates

Material is revised when methods, regulations, or new data warrant changes. Significant edits are noted per our corrections and updates policy. Pages display a last-updated date when the theme provides it.

Conflicts of interest

Authors disclose consulting relationships, equipment trials, or sample support from suppliers when relevant to a article. Commercial relationships do not determine conclusions; reproducible data and cited literature do.
